Where does the money come from to monetize all this?
Our partner ISP is setting aside a portion of all ISP/member dues/subscription fees to give right back to the community (membership includes more than ISP services and copyright royalties--details soon). We also are planning affordable local consumer and business events that create opportunities for our members to meet, socialize and do business in person. We’re partnering with media and our Members to spread the word about all this--and the savings are going back to contributing Members--as royalties. Payment for content. And we’ll tell you more, soon.
In contrast, do you remember how many AOL CDs you received? That’s a whole lot of promotion. (Did you know that AOL wrote off $54 BILLION in 2002?) Do you notice ongoing ads for ISP, phone packages and related services? Those promotional CD and other costs are expenses we don’t have in our marketing budget, since we’re counting on word-of-mouth from satisfied customers.
We are committed to a lean operations structure, super-low overhead and private ownership that has no need for constant ‘dog and pony’ shows to pump stock prices or pay dividends. We’re not going to build public stock market equity--we’re staying private forever, so your personal information will too.
And, other projects and valuable services soon to be announced will give us economies of scope and economies of scale--the ‘cheaper by the dozen’ thing. We’ll announce these as Upgrades soon to our members--subscribe when the link appears showing you how--watch for it soon!
